Program Note
At the request of a childhood friend from his hometown, Cheol-gyu, unable to resist hearing the bride’s name, reluctantly agrees to perform the traditional Korean ritual of Hamjinabi. With an uneasy feeling, Cheol-gyu visits the bride’s house to sell ham as a wedding gift from the groom. With the almost forgotten custom of Hamjinabi as the backdrop, a haunting and sticky sense of horror is created, which leaves a strong impression. Through the vivid fear experienced by the protagonist, it fully showcases the allure of Korean-style horror. (Martin LEE)
