Program Note

Producer SUGA, who produced songs for BTS’s Suga, Psy’s “That That” and featured on IU’s “Eight”, is a rapper known as Agust D, who has released two mixtapes, “Agust D” and “D-2”. Musician Min Yoon-gi (SUGA) embodies three different identities. SUGA: Road to D-DAY is a documentary that captures the process of creating his first solo album in physical form, and the third installment of the Agust D trilogy, “D-DAY”. It reveals how SUGA’s multifaceted position as a member of the world’s biggest boy band, and a singer-songwriter who started making music at the age of 13, is reflected in his musical world, accompanied by honest confessions. In addition to showcasing the significant episodes that inspired SUGA, such as collaborations with musical colleagues he reunited with in the United States after a long time, and conversations about art and creation with renowned Japanese artist, Sakamoto Ryuichi, the documentary alternates between concert performances. The production is structured in a way that makes the documentary itself look and feel like a congruent album. (IM Soo-Yeon)
