Sex in film, which has captivated the screen and audience more intensely and secretly than any other image, has been subjected to intense control and censorship in various forms. The retrospective 'Celluloid Erotica: Anatomy of Sexploitation Cinema' introduces representative films of the sexploitation genre that tried to capture sex on screen from the 1940s to the 1970s. The eight films offer an interesting insight into the various dialogues and negotiations that different eras and societies have had with sex on film, from conservative sex education and political modernism to the sexual revolution and hardcore pornography.
