Synopsis

In the fictional 'Popular and Democratic Republic of Bubunne', Supreme General Anemone holds a grand ball in an attempt to find a husband for her life-hardened daughter, the Colonel. Jacky, a nice young man – has always fancied the Colonel – and battles away like poor Cinderella, but can’t go to the ball because of family problems. Will Jacky find the love of his life?

Riad SATTOUF

The French-Syrian Riad Sattouf born in Paris and spent his childhood in Algeria, Libya and Syria. He returned to France to spend his adolescence in Brittany, where he studied in Rennes. He directed his first film entitled The French Kissers(2009). It was great success in France with 1 million viewers. The film was nominated to three César Awards in 2010.
