Synopsis

A specialist in terminal illness, Dr. Fausto begins to feel a ray of skepticism about his routine life that borders closer to death than life. On a trip to attend a medical seminar on terminal illness in another city, Dr. Fausto runs into a man named Santos Vella who claims to be his former patient. Fausto cannot help but wonder how Santos has managed to survive despite his terminal illness. To Fausto, the chatty Santos makes an offer too sweet to refuse, an offer to realize Fausto's desires. Although skeptical about the offer, Fausto, however, finds himself drawn deeper and deeper into the sweet temptation he offers and indulges in wild sex with an unknown woman. And Fausto gets mixed up in a series of event. If Goethe's ¡ºFaust¡», on which the film is based, is about the conflict between the good and evil, focuses more on the conflict between reason and instinct or realization of desire. The brilliant camera movement, sudden appearances of phantom image, and the phantasmal story, in which dream and reality are intertwined, is an interesting depiction of Fausto's soul in distress. The space filled with dismal mood where bizarre events take place seems to belong in an imaginary world of the future; however, it is difficult to pinpoint the time period in the film. When Dr. Fausto falls for Santos's temptation, his desires transmute into nightmarish reality. , which shows from a dismal perspective the desire and distress of Dr. Fausto, who stands on a tightrope between life and death, illustrates that the only ray of light in such darkness is love.
