Synopsis

Bulgaria has been a country little known to foreigners. However, recently, Bulgarian films have been commanding attention in the international film industry and gaining the status as a leader of East Europeans films. In its sixth year, the Sophia International Film Festival has not only provided the fertile ground in which Bulgarian films may grow but it is now also regarded as a competition ground for films made in the Balkans and the rest of East Europe. , along with and , represent an aspect of the 'fantastic Bulgarian cinema' introduced at this years annual festival. Unlike what the title suggests, there are no possessed people, superhuman devils, nor cannibalistic infidels in . Rather, the film is about choice and destiny, which always accompanies a love triangle, laid out to the music of religious solemnity. The young and talented musician, Pabel, is engaged to Sonya, an opera singer, whom he had been dating for eight years. However, while producing a soundtrack for a movie, he meets a certain woman and becomes infatuated with her. In the meantime, Pabel buys back a mansion that has been in his family for centuries. Led by a lawyer named Deville, a group of suspicious people appears before him, insisting on buying the house. As Pabel remains confused as to which direction he should go, his music becomes schizophrenic- a dual concerto between good and evil. Soon, the identity of "the devil's tail" is revealed...(Felix Kim)
