Program Note
Once a captain, the father now lives with his daughter in a modest house by the sea. One day, a large whale washes ashore, and the father and daughter struggle to save it. However, the father eventually gives up and sets sail alone, abandoning his daughter. The father, who easily becomes angry when things go awry, is deeply wounded and continuously avoids facing past pains. One day, a typhoon causes the father's boat to sink. His unexpressed sincerity and sense of responsibility, weighed down by his burden, sink to the depths of the sea along with the whale. (Kani KIM)
