Synopsis

Adults who start getting scared of children randomly choose a 9th grade class out of all the schools in Japan, and send them to a desolate island for 3 days and establish a horrendous game called Battle Royal. This is a game in which classmates have to kill one another to become the sole survivor and go back home. Class B is chosen as the next subject for the game and is kidnapped on their way to a class trip.

FUKASAKU Kinji

Born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1930, Fukasaku is the director of legendary yakuza series, Battles without Honor and Humanity. This film placed Fukasaku in the pantheon of Japanese masters. His 60th film Battle Royale is well-known as key influence by Quentin Tarantino and John Woo. He passed aways in 2003.

FUKASAKU Kenta

Kenta FUKASAKU, the only son of the legendary action director, Kinji FUKASAKU, became an assistant director on the Toei’s TV series after graduating from Seijo University. After leaving the studio for a freelance career, he became an assistant director on feature films, and in 2000, he debuted as screenwriter and producer for the original Battle Royale. With Battle Royale II, he carries on his father’s vision, directing from his own screenplay. In 2005, he debuted as a director with the romance film Under The Same Moon. In 2006, Kenta made an international success again with the new style of non-stop action Yo-Yo Girl Cop.
