Synopsis
A teature film directed by KIM Sam Ryeok, an independent film director from Daegu. This movie showing the growing-up process of some twenty somethings is a remarkable achievement in our independent films. It calmy describes the weariness of and passion for living, the reality of Daegu, which is being marginalized, and the difficulties of making movies under such cricumstances.
The hero of his film happens to help his juniro to shoot a film in his high school years and indulges himself in the world of movies. This is the beginning of his movie life and his daily life is being recorded. This yype of independent films have been either self complacent about their movie life or illed with clumsy criticisms against the world and slogans. However, surpassing these limits, this film keeps its distance and shows us the springtime of life and suffering.
This movie implicitly achieves the ambiguity and depth of light and darkness of a black and white film, while showing the hope and suffering that the first movie brings, the difficulty of markeing decisions to pursue a career in movies, parnts' concerns, the encounter with a new love, the difficulties of making independent films in a small town and the concealed desire for cinematic achievement and suffering. If you want to awaken the forgotten sensibility, I strongly recommend this movie in taht not only does it show the reality and suffering of the cinematic world but also reminds you of the recklessness in your 20s and old memories which are even more cherishable due to the recklessness.
