Synopsis
It is the story of modern vampire by Director Earnest R. DICKERSON who gained attention for which is the cinema version of horror omnibus . Unfortunately, this film probably has the least engrossing plot among the Season 2 horror films and seem to be just plain and ordinary, failing to live up to the name of Masters of Horror series. Justin and Kerry are mad about computer games. As they play the action horror game as usual one day, they feel the impulse to see real dead bodies after watching the bloody violence all over their computer monitor. In the end, at Justin's proposal, they hurry to an undertaker's where a friend of their work and come across a vampire who has awakened there. Except for special effects in gore scenes, a little bit of humor and Michael Ironside attacking Justin and Kerry with blood all over the mouth, the other scenes of The V Word are quite boring. The biggest fault of the movie is its ambiguous identity. It is a vampire movie by the name but closer to be a zombie film by the scenes. It is true that vampires bite prey's neck and suck blood but the vampires in the move act just like zombies. At the initial appearance, it is even hard to determine whether Michael Ironside is a vampire or a zombie. Is it the only virtue of the movie the way how Justin sees the world after becoming a vampire? It is surely interesting that Justin reveals the same emotional response as human being, refusing to suck blood even if he has to for his life (it reminds me of the Interview with Vampire). However, the movie drag along toward such a scene as slowly as zombie's steps even to the extent of boring viewers. The V Word has many shortfalls, but is full of punch at least in bloody gore scenes. The scene where the saw cuts off the head mercilessly excels not only in special effects but also leaves strong impression by adding speed to the movie with description of violence without inhibition unlike the slowly progressing plot.
