Synopsis

Jack, an American lawyer working in Japan, suffers nightmare every night, feeling guilty of having failed to save his younger brother Sean, drowned to death when he was a child. One day, he is invited to a cruise by one of his important clients, Eiji. Even though Jack is scared of sea due to Sean's death, he decides to accept Eiji's invitation. However, Jack is gripped by one more concern. He is worried if Eiji has detected that he is feeling for Eiji's beautiful wife Yuri. The ship glides out of the Tokyo Bay and heads to the open sea while Eiji continues to get on the nerves of Jack and Yuri by unusual behaviors. Finally, the ship comes to a halt as the screw is stuck on something and a terrible incident begins to happen in the cabin where the power is cut off... TSURUTA Norio, well known for Ring 0 : Birthday , Kakashi(Scarecrow) and Prophecy, helms the adaptation of Suzuki Koji's short story who also wrote the Ring series. Director TSURUTA is the second Asian and Japanese director participating in the Masters of Horror  series following Mike TAKASHI of Imprint in Season 1 and casts Japanese actors playing some of the roles as in Grudge series which is the Hollywood remake of Juon and selects Japan as the location. A main character suffering from the past trauma and a ship at standstill in the middle of sea are not uncommon to Western horror movies. He also added the concept of evil spirit bearing grudge with greate balance. However, something seems to be missing as some of the scenes reuse the cliche that has already shown in Ring and Juon. ISHIBASHI Ryo, who has unique charisma, played the role of Eiji wonderfully. KIMURA Yoshino is familiar to Korean fans since she was the goodwill ambassador of the Year of Korea-Japan Mutual Visit. Daniel Gilles who played the main role is building up a promising career. He played John James in Spiderman 2  and Gary in < 444 > which has been released recently. (KIM Jong Chul)
