Synopsis

Rumpoey and Dum met when they were very young, at a time when they were not sure about what goes on in the world but felt a curious feeling between boys and girls. They met like this when they were about ten. Their meeting was possible, ironically, because of war. If not for the meeting of a city girl with a strong self-consciousness and a shy mountain boy would have never occurred or would have been impossible to occur when they were so innocent. One day, when they go to ride a boat, the girl falls into the water and nearly drowns. Dum dives into the water to save her and their relationship advance rapidly. However, they cannot help but part, when Rumpoey's family moves back to Bangkok after the war. After nine years with a twist of fate they meet again when they go to University. With the fire of youth they promise to become eternal companions for life, but something happens to Dum's family. To gain revenge on his father who was murdered by thieves, Dum becomes a member a gangster 'Black Tiger' holding off his promise with Rumpoey to get married. Director Wisit Sasanatieng inserts 60's Thai melodrama into Hollywood western genre practices, and uses strong colors and wipe and iris effects commonly see in classical movies. It was well-reaeived in Thailand and elsewhere in the world for being a very unique work. (Production Notes)
