I'm Really Really Sorry

MOON Yeo-Song

Korea1976 80min 35mm color

Synopsis

This is one of the series whose titles start with "Chinzza Chinzza." "Chinzza" means "really." Actor Tok-hwa Lee and actress Ye-jin Im who had starred in "Yogo Choroppan (Graduating Class at A Girls' High)," the pioneer of late-teen films, did the leading roles in this film, too. Im frequents television dramas as a plain middle-aged woman these days, but she was a symbol of innocence and sad beauty at that time. Lee is often portrayed as an overacting tough guy then and now. In this film he is a man of innocence mixed with toughness. The two young persons are expected to meet as they grew together in early childhood. The boy is transferred to the girl's school where her father is the headmaster. The boy is continuously engaged in fights and quarrels with the students there who want to show off their vested rights. However, the girl's devoted friendship for the troublemaker solves all problems. The conflict and friendship between a painter aspiring girl and a delinquent boy make a stereotypical film, but the scenes reviving the mentality of high schoolers of the time are valuable. In one such scene, a boy who is in charge of students' discipline presents the female protagonist with pebbles he gathered from the riverside.
