Marylou

Todd KURTZMAN / Danny SHORAGO / Luke LONGIN

USA1996 3min 35mm color

Synopsis

Marylou begins as an orthodox film noir. A seductive femme fatale lures a man to her room where they make passionate love. Unlike your nomal bed scenes, their body parts get entangled, switched and sex acts are done in a totally disorderly fashion. An animated travelogue of sorts, this film features the amazing exploits of a brawny, comic-book He-Man, as he travels from the world of Film Noir to the Land of Oz. Marylou is a work of stop motion animation, combining puppet animation with cut-out animation that adapts the techniques of Balinese shadow puttetry to the realm of film. Marylou is a twisted animated short that breaks all the conventions. (Na Ho-Won)
