Synopsis

Every Wednesday an art collector named Charles Bremer, escorts Lisa, a model, to his luxurious house to do a striptease to the 'LOVE DUET' a song from Donnizetti's 'Lucia Di Lammermoor' After the strip show, Charles leaves quickly and plays an organ alone in the church across the road from his house. Meanwhile, Lisa's boyfriend David, who used to be a successful painter, takes the money Lisa earns in order to feed his cocaine addiction along with using her for sex. Lisa funally leaves him for Jane, a fellow lesbian art student who later seduces her. As the story unfolds, we learn the reasons for Charles's peculiar desire and the effects its having on David and Lisa. MAN OF FLOWERS has both an erotic and humorous storyline blended with different moods and stlyes. Its original charaters and situation reveal some of the oddness in everday life.

Paul COX

Born in Holland in 1940, Paul Cox first came to Australia in 1963 as an exchange student and 'hated it', but he returned in 1965 to stay. He studied part time at Melbourne University and soon after made short films and, in 1976, his first full-length feature, Illuminations. He followed this with two other features and, in 1981, Lonely Hearts, whose success earned him an international reputation.
