Synopsis
“Deep Blue” is the most recent film by Kwak Jee-Gyun, the contemporary master of conventional Korean melodrama. Based on the novel written by Shin Kyung-Sook, the film tells the story of three childhood friends, Eun-shu, Wan, and Hyun-Se. a mixture of action slightly departs from the strict melodramatic narrative that director Kwak has maintained throughout his film career but the highly sophisticated camerawork and visual beauty presents a sensitivity which he is famous for.
