Program Note
Jaehyun, who went to work part-time as a pianist for a wedding, is surprised when he sees the wedding song singer, Seungjun. His face is concealed behind black sunglasses, in stark contrast to the cheerful atmosphere of the wedding, but he captivates the guests quickly with his outstanding vocals. Jaehyun, falls in love with Seungjun at first sight and actively approaches him. During a company dinner, Jaehyun makes a mistake in front of Seungjun. As a result, Seungjun ends up giving vocal lessons to Jaehyun. Despite Seungjun’s excellent vocal and songwriting skills, he hides away due to the trauma he experienced as a former idol trainee under the agency’s CEO. Acquiring a panic disorder as a result of this trauma, Seungjun gives up on his dream of becoming a singer and lives through teaching vocal lessons. When Jaehyun appears unexpectedly and tries to drag Seungjun out into the world, Seungjun feels both burdened and fond of him. In HappyMerryEnding, as the main theme revolves around aspiring singers and vocals, the lyrics of songs play a significant role. It’s a movie where even if dreams and love have disappointed, there are still no bad endings, and anyone can start over, exuding the bright energy of youth. (KIM Songhee)
