Work In Progress

Launched in 2008, the Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF) is the world’s first project market dedicated exclusively to fantastic genre cinema. NAFF supports genre filmmakers from around the world by discovering and nurturing film and series projects, and by guiding them through the entire process of entering the global film industry.

Among its programs, Work In Progress is a post-production support program for projects that have partially completed principal photography, sponsored by the Seoul Business Agency (SBA). Projects selected through an evaluation of their rough cuts and shooting scripts receive professional post-production support in key areas including DI, sound mixing, and digital mastering (DCP).

This support is provided in collaboration with SBA and a network of post-production partners across Asia, including Mocha Chai Laboratories (Singapore), Kantana Post Production and Kantana Sound Studio (Thailand), and Abnormal Studio (Malaysia).

Submission Schedule

Eligibility

Open to feature film projects (genre films with a running time of 60 minutes or longer suitable for theatrical release) and series projects (genre series consisting of at least two episodes with a minimum running time of 40 minutes each).
Each project must have both a director and a producer attached.
*For directors: At least one short film or one feature-length film must have been directed.
*For producers: At least one feature-length film must have been produced, co-produced, or produced as a producer.
Projects must be unfinished works with partial principal photography completed, enabling the submission of a shooting script and rough cut, and still in the post-production stage.
Projects that have received other forms of production support or funding are eligible to apply; however, projects that have secured full production financing are not eligible.

Submission Guidelines

How to Apply	Applications must be submitted online via the designated submission platform. Applicants must register for an account on the online submission system (Eventival) prior to submission. Once a project has been selected, withdrawal is not permitted.
Submission Fee (Via PayPal)	Early Bird: January 5 (Mon) - February 28 (Fri), 2026 USD 25 Regular: March 1 (Sat) - April 15 (Wed), 2026 USD 40 Payment must be completed by the submission deadline.
Required Materials (via the online application form)	Project information Logline (within 200 characters) Synopsis (within 1500 characters, including the ending) Shooting Script Rough Cut Director’s statement (within 500 characters) Biography of director/producer (within 400 characters) Post Production schedule Director’s previous works (up to 3 titles) Burnt-in English Subtitles (for non-English works) are mandatory. Only films or projects with an official release or screening history are eligible as previous works, with files verifying participation through credits. Music videos, and commercials will not be considered.

Official invitation to the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival for up to two representatives per project (director and producer)
- Each representative will receive a BIFAN+ badge and four nights of accommodation during the market period.
- Opportunity to participate in public project pitching and one-on-one business meetings with international film industry professionals during the market period

Promotional exposure through the official online and offline channels of BIFAN

Obligations of Selected Projects

Project representatives must attend all mandatory market events, including business meetings and public pitching sessions.
Submission of additional materials upon request (e.g. publication materials, pitching videos).
BIFAN+Award-winning projects must include the BIFAN+ NAFF logo in the completed work.
Participants are required to continuously share updates on project progress and outcomes, which may be used for promotional purposes.
