The Experimental Film

TEZKA Macoto

Japan199940min Korean Premiere

Synopsis

Starting the filming with a mysterious request stating “To film one girl in the ruins within a deadline of one week,” it unveils an unpredictable surrealistic turn of events.

Program Note

A film is commissioned to capture a girl for seven days in the sealed room of an abandoned hotel. However, as the protagonist becomes more and more confused about what is true, the authenticity of the images becomes uncertain. This work questions the fundamental act of “taking someone’s photograph”. As a companion piece to Hakuchi: The Innocent at the Venice Film Festival and the Busan Film Festival, it was actually filmed without a script for seven days. (HONG Sanghyun)
