Synopsis

With the city of Shinjuku as the motif, a physical urban theory is illustrated by the flesh of the dancers.

Program Note

One part of the Dance of the Earth spirit series, which depicts Earth through a fusion of dance, video, and music, featuring dancer and director, Izumi Cay, showcasing dynamic performances that span from the underground to the skyscrapers. “TunoHazu” the old name of a street in Shinjuku, is a beloved place of director Tezka Macoto. Diretor

TEZKA Macoto

Born 1961, Tokyo. He began his film career since high school with 8mm film. Under the title as a visualist, he presents many visual media such as experimental films and documentaries. Also as a film director, his work Hakuchi: The Innocent (1999) won at the Venice International Film Festival. Other notable works includes Black Kiss (2015), Tezka’s Barbara (2019) and Anime Black Jack (2004), which awarded at Tokyo Anime Award 2006.
