Synopsis

Yu-jin, a 9-year-old girl, has a nightmare every night of being abused as a member of a peculiar circus troupe. Yu-ho, Yujin's brother, feels discomfort with Yu-jin's frequent bed-wetting after being haunted by horrible dreams. Yu-ho advises Yu-jin, who is full of weak thoughts, to become a warrior and dispose of all the enemies in the nightmare.

Program Note

Nine-year-old girl Yu-jin dreams of being abused by a circus troupe every night. Her older brother, Yu-ho, tells her to fight against the enemies in her nightmares like a warrior. Amidst the unsettling reality surrounding the young girl, and the nightmares that stem from it, Yu-jin bravely confronts them, getting even stronger. Despite the potentially heavy subject matter and the contrasting title, this stylishly crafted tale of a girl’s growth unfolds with captivating action. (Martin LEE)

Born in Seoul in 1992. He graduated from Myongji University and Korea National University of Arts with a Master’s degree in film Directing. He directed short films such as Grace Night (2015), Hunting of Crocodile (2016), The Thieves of Wolhyeon-Dong (2016) and The Window (2020).
