Synopsis

A Korean university student takes on an unusual tutoring job and encounters a young child who refuses to write in English. As the tutor a;empts to get to the root of the child"s reluctance, she uncovers a shocking revela@on about the child and her mother.

Program Note

A college student takes on the tutoring of a child who hates English. As the child’s tutor, they are expected to force the children to study English harshly by their mothers. The mother is delighted whenever the child uses English words, regardless of the situation. The young child suffers in agony. This work unravels the horrifying state of contemporary society, driven by madness and an obsession with education, through the genre of horror. (YEOM Jiho)

Diretor

KOO Jaho

Jaho was born in Paris, France. He studied film produc:on and direc:ng in California and gained professional experience working on studio films, primarily in the ac:on genre, in South Korea and Morocco. Jaho has a mul:cultural background, having lived in seven countries before the age of 19, and brings a unique perspec:ve to his work, combining experiences from his travels with passion for genre filmmaking. Jaho's desire to merge Western and Korean storytelling styles is evident in his debut short film, "English Tutor," which he self-funded and directed.
