Synopsis

Satanic Hispanics (2022) is an anthology of 5 short films from some of the leading Latin filmmakers in the horror genre. When police raid a house in El Paso, they find it full of dead Latinos and only one survivor. He’s known as The Traveler, and when they take him to the station for questioning, he tells them those lands are full of magic and talks about the horrors he’s encountered in his long time on this earth, about portals to other worlds, mythical creatures, demons, and the undead.

Program Note

The police raid reveals a man chained in a locked room surrounded by numerous corpses. While interrogated, the man, calling himself “The Traveler”, claims to have witnessed true horrors that will soon arrive, unless he is set free. He offers fantastic tales, involving a Rubik’s Cube master in a haunted house, a vampire’s night out at Halloween, a shape-shifting witch seeking justice, and a curse involving an ex-spouse’s visit, which may lead to justifying his claim. Satanic Hispanics is one of the best recent horror anthologies, bringing together five genre stories from five Latin filmmakers, with a wrap-around that will satisfy any horror genre fan. Wellbalanced with chills, thrills and dark humor, each tale builds suspense that by the end of the last episode, justifies why such a measure was necessary to keep “The Traveler”, convincingly played by Efren Ramirez, in check.
