Synopsis

A group of vigilantes called the “tobacco-forces” is falling apart. To rebuild team spirit, their leader suggests that they meet for a week-long retreat, before returning to save the world. When the legendary Sentai genre (Power rangers, Bioman) meets The Twilight Zone. The fabulous and uncanny mind of Quentin Dupieux is back with a witty comedy inspired by pop culture and slapsticks movies.

Program Note

As it is a film from Quentin Dupieux, who directed Deerskin (2020) and Mandibulest (2020), any attempt to grasp the plot or themes would be useless. Let’s dismiss any expectations of consistent direction or coherence right from the start. This is a comedy, gore, sci-fi, and anthology that boldly and eagerly takes us to places we want to imagine, and places we want to explore. The so-called “TOBACCO FORCE” members, who rival the Power Rangers and Captain Planet, set out on a camping trip under the orders of their rodent leader to boost team morale. Their main activity there seems to be telling the scariest and most exciting stories they know. The movie is structured in such a way that when another story pops up like a popup window, they suddenly dive into it. It might unfold a scene where flesh and blood are scattered randomly, and at that moment of wondering whether this will boost the brigade’s morale or not, you will silently acquire a way to become united as one.
