Synopsis

It"s a scorching summer. The girl and the boy cannot attend the festivities on the eve of the school festival. Then Kali says to the wandering children: “You know, where the festivities are taking place, as far as the shadow of the sacred tree reaches, young spirits are gathered under it.”

Program Note

During a scorching summer, Biin and Taeho are unable to participate in the pre-festival event at school. The film calmly discusses what adults can do for wandering children. The otherworldly atmosphere enhances the emotional depth of the work, and various elements such as directing, cinematography, art, and sound harmoniously come together, creating a highly polished masterpiece. Her short film We Have to Love Each Other (2021), which uses multi-sensory methods to depict the growing story of a girl living through the death of her friend and about the lore novel written by the girl's mother against the backdrop of a remote village, has been invited to festivals such as the Busan International Film Festival. You know, there are ghosts under the tree is the first film of Gongdonghagwon(ÍöÔ×ùÊê®) Project, the director's long-term film project.
