Program Note
In 2035, an American journalist from a broadcasting network visits South Korea to shoot a documentary commemorating the 10th anniversary of Korean reunification. While interviewing North Korean defectors, students, soldiers, and famous announcers, he becomes intrigued by their extreme sensitivity whenever the topic of an explosion during reunification arises. When he learns that his colleague, who was covering the same story, has gone missing, he begins to suspect that there is a hidden secret behind the reunification.
The core of 2035 lies in the tumultuous journey of uncovering hidden truths by breaking through one person at a time. The game’s gatekeepers create a comic atmosphere, demanding trivial fees like chicken or cigarettes, but as the journalist progresses towards the boss-level characters, acquiring crucial clues becomes increasingly challenging. Amidst discussions about “radiation exposure” or “human heat experiments”, the viewer finally confronts the horrifying full story of past events. 2035 is a horrific and strange tale shaped by the imagination of those living with nuclear weapons.
