Program Note
Suin is scared that the thin pillar supporting her old house may collapse. She insists that the family should move or replace the pillar, but she is not taken seriously. One day, the pillar is barely holding out and is on the verge of collapse, and Suin is home alone. Behind her house there are a lot of high-rise apartment buildings. Her family may be poor living in a fancy downtown area, but they remain cheerful, good-hearted people. Poverty expressed as a thin, collapsing pillar unfolds in a comical way. (LEE Hwa-jung)
