Program Note

Don is the Korean branch manager of “Sunshine Tour,” and he is planning to return to the Philippines with his family in a month. On the way home from work, he hits someone with his car. He leaves the scene because he is afraid. He decides to tell the truth, but his wife Sonya, makes a different choice to protect their family. She is determined to remove the only evidence, the damaged car. Sunshine Family reflects on the importance and meaning of family through the tumultuous disturbance of a family caught up in an accident. To protect her family, Sonya begins to dismantle the car. She moves it to the living room in the house and finds herself capable of doing more than housework and finds energy in life. The older neighbor is treated as a problem by his family since he suffers from dementia. However he shows his usefulness by participating in Sonya’s bold plan. Even though they are close, they did not know much about each other. Confronting the crisis in their desperation, the family take care of each other and become real families. (MO Eun-young)
