Program Note
The famous hypnotist, Hui Lapsang, stops hypnotizing after his wife dies and goes to live with his daughter. One day, he was chosen as one of the seven jurors in a major trial over a large inheritance. He received a phone call right before the jury reached its verdict. His daughter has been kidnapped and in order to save her, he must influence the jury's verdict. The jury's verdict is supposed to be done without external intervention; can his hypnotism influence their decision?
After the introduction of Hui Lapsang, the film examines the hypnosis and kidnapping, mixes the thriller and court drama of the reversal of verdict through hypnosis, and finally moves out of the closed room to show large-scale action. The debut film of three directors has a very interesting concept, though it could have added more interesting layers if the conflicts related to Hong Kong's sharpest legal system were reflected. It was presented at the NAFF It Project in 2016 and completed in 2019. (Ellen. Y. D. KIM)
