Tora-San Meets the Songstress Again

Synopsis

Tora-san,good-natured, a bit wild,is traveling about the cuntry as an itinerant peddler when he chances to come across Lily, a girl has had known before ,and one with whom he had fancied himself in love. When he returns to Tokyo she comes to visit him and he renews his old infatuation. His family, however, now much accustomed by Tora's lack of luck with ladies, assumes that this too will come to nothing. His sister asks Lily to marry him. She agrees, then backs out. He also, on another occasion, agrees, then retreats. After they have gone their separate ways the family members begin to think it might have been better if they had minded their own business.

Regarded by many as one of Japan's greatest directors, Yoji Yamada is known mainly as the creator of the popular Tora-san series of feature films, which has enjoyed widespread screening around the world and has become an institution in Japan. In 1969 he made the first of the Tora-san series, and since then he has maintained his position as a super hit maker whose high quality of direction never fails By1993 his Tora-san series numbered forty-six feature films. While keeping Tora-san alive and jolly as ever, Yamada continues to make other films.
