  • SHINN Sang-Okk

    SHINN Sang-Okk

    The Chairman of Jury. Born in 1925, SHINN Sang-Okk has led an illustrious and prolific career, directing and producing numerous films and is still actively making films in L.A. Just prior to the 1945 Liberation of Korea, Shinn returned from his studies in Tokyo with a great vision of becoming a film director and worked as art director under director CHOI, In Kyu . He made his feature debut in 1952 with The Evil Night, which portrayed the tragedy of a woman who is bound to a life of prostitution as a refugee. He is said to be the first Korean director who gained prominence outside of Korea with his film To the Death which won special recognition at the Berlin International Film Festival. His lifetime collaboration with his wife and actress CHOI Eun-Hee has made a landmark in Korean film history with films like Seoung Chun-Hyang, Red Muffler and Mother and a Guest in the room of Master. It's especially meaningful this year With the emergence of and focus on Korean films in the international film community, that director SHINN joins PiFan2000 as the Chairman of the Jury.

    PARK Joong-hoon

    Born in 1964, Joong-Hoon Park made his screen debut in 1985 with Kkambo and became a national screen icon with the Two Cops series. He has acted in over 20 feature films including this year's Sundance entry, Nowhere to Hide as well as 'American Dragon' where he shared the screen with American actor, Michael Biehn. He won the Best Actor award from Festival du Film Asiatique de Deauville in 1999 for his portrayal of an obsessive homicide detective in Nowhere to Hide.

    Antoine Lopez has been working as the co-founder of Festival du Court Metrage de Clermont-Ferrand, one of the most famous short films festivals in the world since its inception in 1979. Organizing the Festival with George Bollon, another founder of the Festival, Lopez has been credited as one of the main supporters of international short film production and promotion.

    KIM Yun-hee, who was born in 1968, was the 1st woman cinematographer in Korea. Her talent can attested to in short films like Skate and Simultaneity,which both went to the Cannes Film Festival and in her feature debut Love Wind, Love Song.

In 2005, his first feature film Antarctic Journal got a public attention because of filming in New Zealand and got a Orient Express-Casa Asia section Best Feature Film award from Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia 2005.
