Synopsis

Trobles start with the moment when Benny, an American art dealer, arrives in Liverpool, England. Benny finds a maze like hotel after going through all kinds of hardships to find a lodgings and takes so much time in find his room. Pausing for breath, he goes for a dinner to the hotel restaurant where only one customer is reading the newspaper in the roomy place, and a waiter leads him to the table right next to the customer. He introduces himself to the person whose name is Frank, and English art dealer also. They decide to find out another restaurant after waiting for long hours for foods, but have hard time to find out a place since it is already too late for a dinner and Frank is a vegetarian. Their search becomes a long voyage taking the subway, bus, taxi, even ferry unknowingly leading to the south east part of the America via Noter Dame, Hongkong. They finally find a restaurant and meet with Lloyd who is also lost in the middle of the desert. This film describes life of people in the modern society humorously and surrealistically through a simple a and naïve journey.

Alex Cox

Born in Liverpool, 1954. Alex Cox studied at UCLA. He wrote and directed < Repo Man > in 1983. It opened at the Berlin Film Festival the following year. From 1987 to 1994, presented the BBC TV series < Moviedrome >. Cox directed < Three Businessman > in 1998 and < Kurosawa, the Last Emperor > in 1999.
