Synopsis

The band, the myths, the legends- The Sex Pistols. Plenty of stories have arisen around a band wi\hich was in existence for 26 months to exert a massive influence on the music of today. Julien Temple’s film deves into areas which were relatively undiscovered territory for The Sex Pistols prior to < The Filth and The Fury >. It charts the rise and fall of England’s most notorious ban amid the backdrop of 1970’s London. Along the way it debunks a number of myths about the band. Drawn from over twenty hours of previously unseen personal footage of the band during live performances, rehearsals, recording sessions, promotional events and candid moment, and intertwined with new interview footage of the original four band members, < The Filth and the Fury > presents The Sex Pistols as the have never been seen before.

Julian Temple’s 1980s feature debut, The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle, established him as one of the early pioneers of music videos, directing such diverse talents as the Rolling stones, David Bowie. He has directed several features, including Absolute Beginners, Earth Girls Are Easy, Vigo. The Filth and the Fury is his second feature about Sex Pistols, allowing the band members to tell their side f the story.
