Synopsis

Thirty years ago Miyaji Akiko, a reporter, was searching Oshima Island for traces of a young girl named Yamamura Sadako. The girl had left the island with her father after her mother, a woman with supernatural powers, killed herself.
Now Sadako is a young woman and an apprentice in a theater troupe. She has a strange effect on the lead actress Aiko. Other notice it too. But are at a loss to explain it. Other abnormal things are happening, too; the sound man keep hearing inexplicable grinding noises on his effects tapes for the play.
After Aiko dies for no apparent reason, Sadako is given the lead role in the play. She is violated by the director, who promises to make her a star. However, the director is killed accidentally during a fight with the sound man. When the director’s body is discovered on the play’s opening day the cast members viciously attack Sadako and beat her to death. However, things appear to be just getting started.

Born in 1960, Tokyo, he made his debut as a professional director with Scary True Stories. The series influenced other horror movies, and this is why Tsuruta is called ‘Pioneer of J-Horror.’ He has been directing several horror films attracted lots of fans.
