Robots: Future Beyond the Human Race

Weird Science

John HUGHES

USA, UK1985 94min Color

Synopsis

Two high school nerds have their frankenstein-inspired experiment unexpectedly taken to the next level when they create the perfect woman. The pair’s out of this world creation then guides the duo through the pleasures and pitfalls of adolescence.

Program Note

Gary and Wyatt, a seriously unpopular pair of nerds, realize their sexual fantasies by actually creating their perfect woman via computers. John Hughes, who already tackled teen angst in light-hearted movies like Sixteen Candles (1984) and The Breakfast Club (1985), challenges the genre of sci- fantasy with Weird Science. You might even spot a very youthful Robert Downey Jr. (KIM Bong-seok)
