Program Note
This film is a masterpiece representing the pure age of Kim Hyesoo. Youngshin, a new member of the theater club, fell in love for the first time. Suffering thru the fever of love is sometimes like poetry, while other times like a diary. Does first love always end up in heartbreak even though the folk songs of the 1970s, Ivan Turgenev’s novel First love and Vivien Leigh’s Waterloo Bridge (1940) all pray for love? Instead of facing the character, the ending that contemplates the flow of time is enough to be recorded as a scene on the history of films. (LEE Yong-cheol)
