The Golden Glove

Fatih AKIN

Germany, France2019109min Color Asian Premiere

Synopsis

At first glance, Fritz ‘Fiete’ Honka is a pitiful loser. The man with the broken face parties through his nights and chases lonely women at the local bar. None of the regulars suspect that the apparently harmless Fiete is actually a monster. Based on the true story of the notorious German serial killer.

Program Note

Fritz Honka, an actual serial killer in Hamburg in the 1970s, was a hunched loner who always kills time in the neighborhood bar, Golden Glove. The film portrays the shocking scene of violence and killing of a victimized woman, so it has been branded as a female repugnant movie. I want you to watch this controversial work that is considered one of the most unpleasant films. The vivid depiction will make you think you can even smell the stinking corpse. (Ellen Y.D KIM)
