Back in 1995, as the first NC-17 rated film to be widely released, Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls became infamous for being voted as one of the worst film ever-made. In his appreciation documentary, Jeffrey Mchale presents a convincing case for the film’s misunderstood excellence with various snippets of interviews and clips and rediscovers Nomi Malone, the central character of a cult classic.
