Synopsis

From the director of the hit Japanese horror Ring(1998). Kyoko is afflicted with multiple personalities after a suffering a traumatic childhood. A series of murders occur in the community and Kyoko begins to wonder if one of her split personalities could be responsible.

Program Note

Inside Kyoto, where she was abused as a child, multiple personalities are created: lesbian Naomi, free-spirited Yucari, and young girl Haru. Kyoko likes the writer Tajima who lives in the same apartment, but Naomi hates him, and the people around Kyoko are killed one by one. This film is an erotic thriller with a glimpse of Hideo Nakada’s talent. (KIM Bong-seok)

Diretor

NAKATA Hideo

Born in 1961, Hideo Nakata graduated Tokyo University. Joining the Nikkatsu Studio, Nakata directed < Ghost Actress > and < Ring > which resulted in great success. < Dark Water > is his first film after he left the studio.
