Program Note

Rani Lakshmibai, a historical figure of the 1880s, was the queen of the kingdom of Jhansi, located on the north-central region of India. Skilled at horsemanship and fighting since childhood, Lakshmibai adamantly resisted against British invasion but died in battle. The film is an epic theater that shows the life story of a great woman who struggled in a man’s world in one of the most violent times in history. (KIM Bong-seok)
