Synopsis

It’s Christmas and Matt and his wife Karen show up unannounced at the home of his estranged brother Steve to celebrate the holiday together. There, they find a man trapped in the basement, a man Steve believes is none other than the Devil himself.

Program Note

An atmospheric feature directorial debut by Josh Lobo, this eerie, slow-burn film effectively builds up the tension within a conned space using the viewers’ fear of unknown and leads to its terrifying final revelation. What started out as a surprising visit for Christmas turns into a psychological tug of war between brothers, families and an unknown in the basement. A remarkable performance by all, especially Scott Poythress as paranoid Scott. (Jongsuk Thomas NAM)
