Synopsis

The mysterious disappearance of a fishing boat turns out into a grave calamity that wipes out an entire island nearby. An investigation team arrives in Tokyo, only to be confronted by ‘Godzilla’: a giant sea monster with radioactive breath. The creature was resurrected because of repeated nuclear testing. Desperate efforts by people are made in vain when Godzilla comes ashore in Tokyo. The only way to stop the monster is to use the 'chemical of fear', which was invented by Serizawa, and kills all living things.

HONDA Ishiro

Honda Ishiro, often credited as being the father of Godzilla. Toho's most renowned director of science fiction, is most famous for his numerous entries in the Godzilla series, became Legend from Godzilla(1954) to Terror of Mechagodzilla(1975). Honda also was a lifelong friend of director Kurosawa Akira and Honda worked on several of Kurosawa's landmark films including Nora inu(1949), Kagemusha(1980) and Ran(1985). He was embarrassed the warning of nuclear energy with Godzilla that would collect fandom after huge success at box office. Honda passed away aged 83 on February 28th, 1993, with Kurosawa Akira delivering the eulogy at his funeral.
