Synopsis

A documentary that challenges former Indonesian death squad leaders in the genocide of more than one million people to reenact their real-life mass-killings in whichever cinematic genres they wish, including classic Hollywood crime scenarios and lavish musical numbers. A journey into the memories and imaginations of the perpetrators, offering insight into the minds of mass killers.

Diretor

Joshua OPPENHEIMER

Born in 1974, he graduated from Harvard. He directed award-winning documentary and shorts such as The Entire History of the Louisiana Purchase (1997) and Land of Enchantment (2001). The Act of Killing won Prize of the Ecumenical Jury – Panorama at Berlin International Film Festival in 2013.
