Program Note

Three high school classmates’ hotpot restaurant searches for a buyer, but they must first “enlarge the space.” Digging, they emerge in the vault of the bank next door. They even devise a plan to sneak into the bank, but will they succeed in this mission?

YANG Qing

Born in 1980, Chongqing native Yang has been writing scripts for films and television programs and directing a number of experimental short films. His feature directorial debut One Night in Supermarket (2009) grossed $5.7 million on its opening day in China and was invited to Shanghai International Film Festival and Locarno International Film Festival. Chongqing Hot Pot is his second feature film.
