Program Note

Joel(Philip Oros) returns to his hometown to check on his mother after she suffers a stroke. When he notices a disturbing bloodstain near her bedside, he decides she can no longer live alone and arranges for her to stay at a care facility where his childhood friend Nina(Gizem Erdogan) works. However, his mother’s condition worsens, and she begins claiming that her deceased husband is appearing and tormenting her. Soon, strange things start happening not only to the staff but also to other elderly residents at the facility.
The Home begins by portraying an uneasy mother-son relationship, gradually revealing a world where the family—supposed to be a source of safety—and the home—meant to be a place of peace—fail to fulfill their roles. As the psychological strain on each character intensifies and pushes them toward the edge, fear becomes not just an emotion, but the very form the story takes. Set against the heavy atmosphere of a mystery-thriller—where ‘something is happening’ looms ominously—the film mixes in genre elements like jump scares and body horror to build tension and deliver a chilling experience.
