Things Will Be Different

Program Note

Sydney and Joseph are estranged siblings who reconnect after a robbery to help Sydney start a new life. Things seem to have gone well, as they leave for a remote farmhouse to lay low. However, they discover strange messages on the wall, a dial-tone phone, and a tape recorder that gives a particular set of rules to follow to return to their original timeline. In the meantime, they are being hunted by an unseen force and are forced to face the never-ending time loop and clash with each other.
A feature directorial debut by Michael Felker, Things Will Be Different is an emotional character study disguised as a time-travel sci-fi mystery. The dynamic between Joseph and Sydney is so genuine, and their authentic connection is the heart and soul of this film. Riley Dandy as Sydney and Adam David Thompson as Joseph are excellent as heart-breaking siblings stuck in impossible situations. (Jongsuk Thomas NAM)
