Synopsis
In the grand tradition of artists menaced by their own work (Peeping Tom, Black Swan, Mother, Hanover Square) Stopmotion (2023) finds a young woman who loses control of her stop motion film, inviting a frightening figure called The Ash Man into her life. Taking full advantage of the macabre, unreal nature of stop motion as an art, Stopmotion (2023) builds a story of horrific psychosis, while a Babadook-like figure lurks, building up its own creepy mythology of the three nights he comes to visit.
