Synopsis

17-year-old high school girl, Urara, has a secret hobby of reading BL comics. She gets to know Yuki, a woman in her 70s, who buys BL comics from the store she works at. Yuki, who has never read BL comics before, asks for Urara’s help. They get close with BL comics as the medium and their friendship surpasses the age difference. Yuki advises Urara, who is still uncertain about her future, to do what she likes, and Urara decides to draw BL comics herself. Based on a multi award-winning comic, including ‘This Manga is Amazing’, the charm of the odd friendship between a teenage girl and a woman in her 70s is still present in the movie. As their friendship gets stronger, the girl grows up, breaking a shell around her with the help of Yuki, just like characters in BL comics do. It is a touching guide for those as yet unfamiliar with BL works in ‘Boys, Be, Love’ special screening. Ashida Mana’s acting as an adult is still charming. (Martin LEE)
