Synopsis

As with all fads, popular music trends come and go. Eurodisco had the same fate, once ignored for its rusticity with all the glory of those dazzling synthesizer sounds, the rambling nonsense English lyrics, and the lavish styling and eroticism in line with the music video era. As the front-runner of Eurodisco, Italo disco spread to France and Germany, dominating clubs, resorts, and radio stations worldwide in the 1980s. Italo Disco. The Sparkling Sound of the 80s includes interviews with musicians representing Italo disco, such as Gazebo, Sabrina, and Joy, who gained worldwide popularity in Europe, plus the rich archives of TV shows and music videos. It meticulously dissects Italo disco, a widespread cultural phenomenon beyond the dominant genre of the time. The seductive sound of Italo disco is the true protagonist of this documentary, which will bring memories to those older audiences now banned from clubbing! (Jin PARK)
