Synopsis

Maria hears her boyfriend has disappeared after having a psychotic episode just before his PhD dissertation exam. Worried about him, she searches all over the city, including the university and regularly checks her Facebook messages, but not knowing his whereabouts is driving her crazy. There is nothing she can do but follow the clues. Runner is the second film from director Andrius Blaževičius, whose feature debut. The Saint (2016), was also introduced to Korean audience. This film is an adventure with a simple plot about a young woman searching for her missing boyfriend, which builds into a unique psychological thriller, capturing diverse issues such as gender, the system, communication, Social Network Services, and freedom, as well as Maria’s personal chase. At the end of the film, we realize that what Maria is looking for is more than just her boyfriend. (Jin PARK)

Diretor

Andrius BLAŽEVIČIUS

Born in Vilnius in 1985 to a Lithuanian-Polish family. After high school, he studied Cultural History and Anthropology at Vilnius University and, after a year, switched to the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy where he earned his Master’s degree in Film Directing in 2011. Andrius completed six short films during his studies, including Ten Reasons (2011), winner of two Lithuanian Film Academy Awards. His debut feature film The Saint (2016) premiered at the Busan and Warsaw Film Festivals and received six Lithuanian Film Academy Awards. Andrius works as a freelance director and has also been a programmer for the Vilnius International Short Film Festival since 2010.
